Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has travelled to Sri Lanka for a 2-day visit. There, Modi met Sri Lanka’s former President Mahinda Rajapaksa and had talks with him.
Modi has scheduled 5-day foreign visit to three countries. As scheduled, in the last two days he travelled to Sri Lanka.
It is already known through news that Rajapaksa and Narendra Modi has better relationship. When Narendra Modi sworn in as Prime Minster of India, Rajapaksa was called to the ceremony. Later Modi wished Rajapaksa good luck to win in presidential elections in Sri Lanka.
So, it was expected that Modi might meet Rajapaksa during his Sri Lankan visit. Accordingly, in Colombo, at the India House located in Indian Embassy campus, Modi and Rajapakse met in the evening.
On this, official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs of India, Syed Akbaruddin tweeted about Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s meeting with Mahinda Rajapaksa in Colombo. He also posted the photos of two leaders when they had met.
However, there was no official information given on what they spoke in this meeting.
Earlier, a few days back in an interview given to a Hong Kong based media, Rajapaksa accused that India’s RAW played a vital role for my defeat in the just held presidential election.
