BCCI has declared officially that all the matches were to be held in Chennai would be shifted to Pune. Several causes are moving ipl chennai to pune. Fans mark the declaration “worse than break-up”.
“Indian premier league”, quite familiar as IPL, started its journey in 2007. The squad was formed with 8 numbers of teams from each zone. Naturally fans were divided into 8 groups. They lost, struggled and won with their favourite team. It’s really unfortunate to lose the opportunity to watch a team their home-match. So, shifting ipl chennai to pune is a remorseful incident for the fans of CSK.
IPL Governing Council Chairman Rajeev Shuklaasserted that they didn’t want to deny the cricket fans of Tamil Nadu. There left very few options for them as the Chennai police weren’t agree to take any risk. BCCI’s acting President C. K. Khanna echoed the similar sentiment. Pune will host the upcoming matches. The decision was taken after a meeting between CSK CEO K. S. Viswanathan.
Now the question is what’s the matter? Why BCCI are being so brutal towards the CSK-fans? Let’s have a look upon the matter.
Protest against Cauvery Water Dispute
The protest against Cauvery water dispute forced BCCI to shift ipl chennai to pune. The main cause happened on Tuesday, 10th April. While the match between CSK and Kolkata Knight Riders was proceeding at M.A. Chidambaram Stadium. The state is facing such a grave situation about water distribution. As tension over the Cauvery water-sharing dispute mounted, the stadium had turned into a virtual fortress. On this issue massive protests were witnessed on Tuesday ahead of the match. Police even resorted to lathicharge as hundreds marched towards the Chepauk stadium from Anna Salai. Cases have been registered in Triplicane police station against some leaders and 500 other protesters.
During the match CSK and KKR, an identified protestor flung a pair of shoes at CSK’s RavindraJadeja. The protest became shameful for the supporters and the local inhabitants of Chennai.
Though the match was held amid tight security, yellow jerseys of CSK fans were burnt. Fans were forced to take off the jerseys of their cricket teams. All of it were also set on fire.
Attack to Police
On that occasion of protest, there was a massive struggle among the police and the rebels. The worst form of violence was seen on that evening.
Agreement of political parties
Most of political leaders from Tamil Nadu have supported the protests. Some of them condemned the violence too.
Political Parties and fringe groups have demanded to cancel all the IPL matches. Their demand is the scheduled matches to be held in Chennai have to be cancelled.Until the centre forms the Cauvery water Management Board. TVK, a group has threatened to release live snakes into the stadium if no cancellation happened.
The opportunity to support the loved team and watch them playing live is good. But the local police were not willing to provide adequate security. They are unable to provide the required safety to the players and viewers rather.
Problem in rescheduling
The CSK CEO said that the Commissioner told him that it would be better to reschedule the matches. They conveyed the same to the BCCI. He asserted that since the IPL matches could not be shifted to any other dates at this point. They had to move out of the city. So they have to ipl shift pune from Chennai.
The decision to shift the venue comes despite the Supreme Court’s repeated exhortation to the Tamil Nadu Government. The Court requested them to maintain peace in the state while the court was examining the Cauvery dispute.
Better connectivity is another point to shift IPL Chennai to Pune. There are only few direct flights available from Vizag. If the team had to travel to Indore, they had to travel via Delhi. Pune has better connectivity. So it was decided to shift ipl chennai to pune.
It’s unfortunate to miss the home-match of favourite team. But the political upheavals, violence and inability of the city police compel to shift ipl chennai to pune.
